The Bale Wizard, a large
two-bale handler, is able to haul loads without risk of
colliding with gates or machinery. The Bale Wizard was designed
to hold two large bales in tandem such that the width of the
bale handler is approximately the width of a single large bale,
and the length is approximately the length of two large bales.
Further, the design of the Bale Wizard affords the operator more
maneuverability and ease of use than other such bale-moving
equipment.
Because the Bale Wizard
can move two larges bales at a time, a rancher or farmer will
spend much less time hauling bales from place to place. Further,
whereas side-by-side bale forks typically are 12 to 13 feet
wide, measuring across the width of the bales, the Bale Wizard
is only half that wide (i.e., the width of one bale). In fact,
the Bale Wizard is narrower than the width of a tractor, giving
the operator more maneuverability and easy passage through gates
and narrow corridors. The Bale Wizard easily can pass through
virtually any gate as long as the tractor itself can pass
through the gate, and the operator has fewer concerns about
hitting objects with the sides of the bales being carried.

Another advantage of the
Bale Wizard is that loading and unloading is easier and faster
to accomplish than with other bale handlers because the bales
are loaded on center instead of off-center as with side-by-side
bale forks. With a side-by-side bale fork, the operator must
estimate the correct amount of offset required for each bale and
often must engage in extra steps, such as pre-positioning the
two bales together as is often required with side-to-side forks,
to load the bales. With the Bale Wizard, the operator simply
backs up to the first bale to load it and then backs up to load
the second bale.
Moreover, the loading
process is made quicker and easier by the fact that the Bale
Wizard does not dig into the ground, possibly bending the loader
and digging up the field because the Bale Wizard tines lie
parallel with the ground as they slip underneath the bale.
The Bale Wizard is also
easier to unload than a side-by-side fork. While side-by-side
bale forks require that bales be unloaded together, the Bale
Wizard allows two large bales to be unloaded at different
locations. Not only can the Bale Wizard unload bales in tight
formation, other variations for unloading the two large bales
are also possible. For example, the two bales can be unloaded
next to one another but with a small gap between the bales. This
configuration works especially well for long-term storage of
large bales because the gap between the bales prevents snow or
ice formation, which causes spoilage.
When time is of the
essence for getting the bales bee lined or stacked to the edge
of the field to make way for a new crop, the Bale Wizard is the
answer because it moves the bales and lays them in a line faster
and easier than any side-by-side. Since weather is so often a
factor in hay making, this time-savings factor can mean a huge
difference in the bottom line.
The design of the
equipment allows for safer operation of the equipment, so the
operator can load and unload using just the tractor mirrors,
rather than twisting the neck and back to look backward while
driving forward. This ease of operation results in field time
saved and in less physical exhaustion for the operator.
Finally, the smooth design
of the tines facilitates loading and unloading by smoothly
sliding beneath the bales without snagging on the twine or net
wrap that wraps the bales, and the placement of the tine
supports along the main tines minimizes sliding friction both
between the bale fork and the ground.
The Bale Wizard also
adapts itself to other farm and ranch uses to make it a
year-round machine, instead of strictly a hayfield attachment.
For example, it easily hauls feed bunks, even concrete ones, two
at a time, as well as moving feeders, panels, garden sheds, and
many more heavy items. It will even pick up and haul away your
old junk car (see photograph).
